Bustin makes me feel....Awkward
Mar. 21st, 2022 09:52 pmI then wondered what ever became of some of the other actors from GB2, so off the IMDB and Wikipedia Land I go....
...And holy crap, GB is a cursed franchise.
The guy who played Vigo had a pretty messed up life, full of boxing and crazy family problems, died in 2008 of cancer at a friend's house in Mexico because he was basically dirt poor and homeless.... Jeeze.
(I also just discovered he was also in Die Hard, and never knew it. Although I admit I'm not that big a fan of Die Hard so haven't watched it all that much but anyway)
One of the twins who played Oscar killed himself in 2017 b/c he was suffering from severe schizophrenia. That's terrible.
The woman who played Gozer didn't seem to be able to forge much of a career since GB. According to a friend who frequents Comic Cons said she always looks miserable and hasn't aged well. And yeah maybe there's a reason there's no photos of her on IMDB. I found in a very quick search one or two photos of her from a Con / posing with a fan, and yeah....She's miserable. (unless she's playing that up for all I know)
Apparently two of the producers for Afterlife died during production. Yikes.
Murray was "done" after GB2 and held a grudge for decades.
Moranis had his wife die and left the profession for years, and the rumor-mills made it out he had a "nervous breakdown" that he has been unable to stop or get past
Ackroyd has had trouble transcending his character, but did sort of embrace the whole "ghosts & spirits" thing since.
Seems like others have managed to get past it and forged ahead in their careers
So, quite a terrible legacy.
(and the revisioned female-GB movie wasn't terrible but it wasn't great either. But I still scratch my head / shrug and move on from the insane buttburt crying I hear about it. For all the talk about "fan service", these morons seem to forget that GB2 was a whole sequel of fan service, and I would dare to say, one of the movies that defined that "let's make a followup sequel because mad profit and merchandizing!" genre and ever-slipping movie quality and formula we've been experiencing for 40 years
