Just saw an ad on YouTube

A little while ago, I don't remember where I came across it, but I learned a "Trick" where you put a hyphen between t and u in YouTube url and it goes into a "no cookies" mode, but also increases the viewing screen size and you can't like or comment.

It's been OK. Still have to suffer the first few seconds of most ads but it works well enough.

So anyway

A few seconds ago I put in the trick but not before I saw a few seconds of an ad for Papa Johns, who is now apparently offering sandwiches.

And I was surprised. I remember when Dominoes tries this a little over 15 years ago and it lasted for about a month, at least in the area I was in. (working in Medway/Millis MA)

Apparently it just didn't do anything for Dominoes' sales numbers. Whodathunk when you could get a better sub at the three mom & pops for same money. heck, even the Subway in town was marginally better.

I got one of the Italian cold cut offerings and it was OK. (I haven't eaten their pizza since 1998 after one-too many lower-GI problems we'll leave it at that.....Side note, this being during College, there was a Papa Johns more or less in the opposite corner of town near the college and they seemed to get slightly more business than Dominoes, and they definitely competed heavily with each other and the local mom & pop pizza/sub shop that was closer to the college. I was OK with their pizza but tended to like their giant breadsticks more. Mmmm. Carbs. We all had a hunch the CEO was a bit sketchy even in 1998. but I digress)

So anyway.

Papa Johns now offering sandwiches.

And the STUPID IRONY is I was about to watch a video titled "We uncovered a Multi-million dollar plot to change what you eat"

Earlier today I heard that Dominoes announced that their quarterly (?) earnings was even.
Or was it as a loss? I forget. And don't really care to check.
Apparently that is a BAD sign of a collapsing economy as they are of course the "cheapest" pizza chain
so if they're only breaking even, competitors are starting to circle like vultures.

I dunno, I just find the timing really...."interesting".

I also saw a vid on IG earlier where the young white guy was (mansplaining) that the cost of eating out / takeout is the same as buying groceries and trying to cook on your own at home / meal-prep.

The Market 32 I go to in Sutton on my way home, nothing is less than $5. Some of the store/generic brands are $3. A few weeks ago I spent $90 on a dozen items. Monday I spent $50 for almost double the items, despite most of the items being $5. I spent an extra 20 minutes in the store (torture) trying to look for anything under $5. I think 3 items I got were on "sale" for $2.99 or 3.99.

There were some store employees with carts blocking the corner in the bread & bakery section where I usually try to get a package of whole wheat burrito size tortillas for breakfast sandwiches. I couldn't even check the price but seeing as it's whole wheat (and marketed as Keto diet approved, which I don't think anyone is doing anymore). I ended up in the Mexican Food section and got a pack of Real white flour tortillas for (sale) 2.99. So yeah I now get to choose between eating "healthy" with whole-wheat and spending more, or, saving 25 cents and going with white flour, which the food-guru internet experts screech about being EVIL and INSTANT DEATH.

...Today's lunch was half a block of store brand sharp cheddar and a sleeve of store brand Ritz crackers.
The last 3 days lunch has been a small bag of Snyder honey-mustard pretzel bits from the Dollar25 Store..

So....Which was the "heathy" choice, which was the "money saving" choice?
(shrug)

But nothing means anything, nothing matters anymore, everything is a lie to distract from the Epstein files and the collapsing economy, right? So why should I care. Gas was also $5.15/ga for me today. I believe that is the highest I've ever paid, so far.

Warehouse and Data Center Fires.
