The fact I can still remember this from early this morning is interesting, although considering one of the songs is still stuck in my head, probably par for the course.

So, I binged the cartoon Gravity Falls for the last week or two. Maybe worth it's own post but the TL:DR is I did tend to like it. I admit I almost got teary-eyed at the very last episode with the memory-wipe and then the waiting for the bus.

But yeah it's superbly animated, richly colored, pretty good character design and characterization and excellent voice acting.

Now some of the buzzwords and references from...Ugh....10 years ago....make some more sense. Although I got caught up on most of them with some searching (fanwiki) sites and some "free" theyoutubes (as in, hacked)

Anyway. The "Weirdiverse" of the last couple episodes managed to find their way into my dream last night, go figure. But right near the end of the dream, the song "In the Year 2525" interestingly enough came into play, and that's the song playing in my head when I woke up.

But then as I woke up and got started with my day, for some reason, Del Shannon's Clavioline solo from "Little Runaway" also got into my head and started mixing with 2525 and that's been most of my day.

Although the Clavioline has taken over by now.

On a somewhat-related side note, Little Runaway I think was one of my childhood top-10s although probably like around a 7 or 8 on the list. >shrug<. And Tom Petty's "Runnin' Down A Dream" which is one of my all-time top favorites, interestingly enough, references Little Runaway. Although I'd probably heard Runaway first / before Petty, and only somewhat recently learned of / realized the reference in Petty's lyrics. (thank goodness for the Internet in that regard)

2525, on the other hand, I think I can still remember one of the first times I heard that on the radio (yes I know I'm waaaay too young, this is thanks to "Oldies" radio stations growing up)
and it sort of brickwalled me (as a kid), and i was both intrigued and bored and appreciative of the lyrics over the years, again, thanks to internet, because radio play was so rare for me, in the off chance it came on or I came across it scanning stations, it was either halfway done or at the tail end.

And yeah a lot of the lyrics are a bit relevant still today. Seems like some of them have already become reality. Whoopsiedaisies
