Another bad thought (or two)

So. Yeah. Saw a thing about how Ukraine is "gaining ground" , whatever that might mean.
And a horrifying thought crossed my mind.
Remember how Putin kept insisting he would only resort to Nukes in "self defense"?
Yeah. And....Let's say Ukraine starts pushing Russian troops back heavily, back to the "original" border between Uk and Rus.....And then Nukes fall.
Because, how do you determine, really, an invisible line in the grass between two countries.
He could claim the Uk forces were pushing into Rus territory and he felt "threatened" or something
and retaliated. With nukes. Like, small "tactical" nukes. (what a ridiculous classification but that's another post-rant). he could claim the territory he annexed and invaded recently and then "lost" (let's say) was "actually" Rus territory and he had to, well, "defend himself"
....And meanwhile, N. Korea keeps going with ICBM testing. One of them WILL have a nuke armed one of these days.

Bad thought 2:
Friend of mine who I've known since he was in middle school (and has become a member of one of my living history groups from that initial school program/meeting), he's become an accomplished pilot, and he just put up a post just now explaining how he flies (charter) for the "top 1% in the country" (claiming financiers, politicians, industry execs) and how he's "gotten to know them and some are now friends". and then he allegedly asked them their honest opinion about the near-future, economy, etc.
Can you guess what these 1%ers said?
According to his post, they said:
"we're in a recession
times are going to get bad
put money into assets and get ready to weather the storm of 2023-24"
And I can't help but think that he's being, well, used, by these people.
Of course the Economy Is Bad. It's always bad for them, that's why they're always pushing us pathetic plebs to "prepare for bad times ahead", which is hilarious since they pay us shit to begin with, there's no way we can afford to put into "savings" if we're barely getting by paycheck to paycheck.
Of course put your money into THEIR assets. That's how they fucking stay in lap of luxury. On our fucking dime. that they put into high risk. because it's a fucking game for them. Who cares about our pathetic little lives as long as they get to pay for private jets whenever they want.
"Times are going to get bad" is like the most overused selling point/fear-mongering term in the book.
So...I''m kinda both disappointed and irritated that he feels obligated to lay these cards out for us, for them.
(and yes I am fully aware my own financial positions and decisions are pretty pathetic but that's another story)

is a Jordan Peterson follower
loves to rag on Dems / Biden at every opportunity, claiming he'll point out every error of both sides, but, tends to rag on Dems most often because of course.
claims he's not a trumper though (but comes off a bit Sealioning, dunnit?)
comes off as a abhorrent 2A'er gun nut who thinks "everyone should be armed/know how to use a gun"
(there was that horrible incident of an elderly lady being attacked in Boston area not too long ago, and he made a Statement about how if she was armed and knew how to use it, she could have defended herself, and, yeah, everything I could to do resist going non-linear about that, mostly because facebook)
So. Yeah I dunno. I really like this kid and think he's an otherwise bright young man. He's also not native US, he's originally from the UK, so, sometimes plays a double-patriot sort of card that I don't think i can adequately explain.
But, my god, every time/thing he posts now is just....Mind numbing. Headache-inducing.
I was really hoping I'd be able to go flying with him sometime. But now that he says....Stuff....I dunno, not sure I want to be strapped into a tiny 2-seat former RAF Trainer.
One of the other guys in the living history group, called him out privately in regards to one of the pro-gun comments and I guess according to this other guy, the kid was being more "provocative" of the narrative and questioning it, rather than blind-parrot-repeating it.
I guess a part of me almost has this "fatherly" reaction, as in, how my dad reacted so some of the stupid 20-year-old-shit I'd spout off back in HS, College and post-college....So, i dunno. Not sure plugging my ears and going la-la-la about it is the best tactic, either.

it's both "Bad" and "good".
So last 2 Game Nights I've gone to Shaw's market and gotten a box of chocolate-dipped-peanut-butter cookies and I think they're pretty rad.
I started thinking about trying to make my own version.
The last GN I also had bought a bag of their regular chocolate-chip cookies, which are, descent.
Tonight I on a whim decided to spread some peanut butter on them. And....OK so this is the bad part.
Addictive.
between baking bread and baking deserts because now that it's winter I CRAVE Warm (Comfort) Foods....I'm afraid I'm going to regain the covid-19-weight I gained the last 2 years. I did manage to shave a bit off thanks to all the walking I've had to do for commuting. But, the shop closes in January. And, if the weather trend of the last decade continues, Jan-Mar is going to be hideously cold and likely stormy.
And the desire to..."Hibernate".....Increases.
And, the worst part about it is b/c we have Electric heating (apartment complex), our heating bill went up 100% this year, and we're both making below poverty/min wage, so, yeah, I'm wearing 3 layers of sweaters right now....And that's just about all I can really do about it.
