Friday when I was down in CT for my first in-person school Roman presentation in 3 years, that afternoon there was a massive fire at a 150yo mansion about a mile and a half from the studio on Linwood Ave.

(historically it was one of the Whitin family, who owned the Linwood Mill across the street from it which is now senior apartments and the HQ for the Blackstone Valley NPS)

I very rarely drive near that area, sometimes take that road as an alternative if there's a lot of traffic or just to break up monotony now and then. So I didn't run into any traffic or blocked roads due to it.

I didn't even know it had happened until Muses_Realm saw it on her phone while we were at a hockey game in Providence later that evening.

Yesterday I drove by the site to take a look-see (and there had been a few cars pulled off on the side of the road so I wasn't the only one). I was again at the studio and started hearing a lot of sirens, as the FD is about a half mile in the opposite direction (SW) of the studio/mansion)

I got onto Broadcastify but was too late to hear of the location, but that several units were responding and hearing "second floor" and "hot spots in the attic" and it was apparently a pretty intense blaze.
The sirens sounded "close" but even standing outside and looking to the skyline to look for a smoke column, did not see anything, but I think I could smell something burning if briefly.

It wasn't until I started searching this morning that I learned it was on Rebecca Rd, which is just about 1 mile North and up the hill from the studio, along Hill St which I drive to get to the studio pretty much every day, including yesterday afternoon, but again didn't run into any fire trucks or road closures.

Yet, that very afternoon as I drove by the abandoned Drive-In Theatre on route 146S in Sutton MA, where I drive 146 again pretty much daily, there was another massive brush fire at that location, around the same exact time I was driving by on the way home. But didn't see anything. I think I heard the sirens going out to the call as they apparently called in the FD from Whitinsville.

While I hear the FD and PD sirens fairly often, I think I've gotten a little desensitized from the Worcester sirens as they seem to be wailing pretty much day and night, several times.

But I am a little anxious all of these fires suddenly happening and fairly close to where the studio is or along routes I drive regularly.
